Spring In The Air
Most of the time I really don’t like Spring. I like the concept, but not the application. For me, Spring means dreary, overcast days with lots of rain, or lots of buds/pollen and endless days of itchy eyes and sneezing. But sometimes, Spring is glorious and you realize why some people think it’s the best season of the year.
Today was one of those days. You wake up early because the sun is out early and you walk outside and the temperature is just cool, but you know it’s going to warm up almost to the point that you’ll look enviously at your shorts collection knowing they’ll be out soon. My family took most advantage of the weather today, with the girls off to a neighbors to play on their playground and play tennis with the ladies. Number one son went to a friend’s house to play trampoline and Star Wars (George Lucas, you don’t know the power of the force on littel boys). I got the joy of cleaning out gutters. 18 feet up in the air, or so it felt, using a car window scraper to get thousands of “wheelies” out of the gutter. But, it was such a nice day, it was just pleasant to be outside. Then we went fishing. Watching boys fish is a delight. They are excited to try to catch “Dr. Catfish” and run up and down the bank trying to find the elusive fishing hole. Nothing doing today though because the fish probably just aren’t ready. But they better get ready soon, because Spring is in the air and Summer isn’t too far behind.
